Join us for a New Seasons Market Spring Recycling Event, being held at our Milwaukie store. This event is in partnership with James Recycling, Community Warehouse, Green Century Electronics Recycling, Caring Closet, Waste Free Advocates, and more!

This year, we’ll be set up at a new location: our New Seasons Milwaukie store!

To take part, gather, clean and sort your hard-to-recycle materials (not accepted in curbside bins), then drop them off for recycling for just $3-$10 per bag.

Accepted Materials & Fees

James Recycling
Plastics ($3 per grocery-sized bag) 

  • Unnumbered straws and utensils
  • Unnumbered screw-on caps and contact lens blister packs
  • #1 PET
  • #2 HDPE
  • #4 LDPE
  • #5 PP
  • #6 PS (bread clips, CD cases, tape containers, cassette cases)

Green Century
Styrofoam ($10 per 45-gallon bag) 

Clean, dry, and without tape, labels, glue, ink, paint, or food residue, sorted into the following categories:

  • Cups 
  • Styrofoam packing peanuts 
  • Take-out containers, meat trays, and egg cartons 
  • Blocks

E-waste (No cost) 

  • Computers, laptops, TVs, and monitors (all types) 
  • Hard drives (secure data destruction provided) 
  • Misc. computer components (floppy drives, printed circuit boards, etc.) 
  • Cords, wires, chargers, and power strips 
  • Servers, switches, routers, hubs, modems, networking devices, and communications equipment 
  • POS (Point of Sale equipment) 
  • Printers, scanners, faxes, copiers, keyboards, and mice 
  • Misc. office machines and electronics 
  • VCRs, DVD players, cable or satellite equipment, and stereo or audio components 
  • Testing equipment 
  • Telephones, cell phones (with or without batteries), PDAs, handheld games, gaming consoles or systems, and cameras 
  • Returned or unwanted products 
  • UPS (uninterruptible power supply) and other lead-acid batteries, laptop batteries, cell phone batteries, and Li-On batteries 
  • Small or large appliances (microwaves, toasters, blenders, etc.) 
  • Electric power tools 
  • Ferrous and non-ferrous metals 
  • Air conditioners 
  • Bare tube CRT

Clean, complete, and fully functional essential household staples that arrive ready to go out to homes the very same day.

  • Misc. small household appliances 
  • Area rugs (up to 8ft), throw pillows, plug-in lamps, coat trees, framed mirrors, wall art (framed and ready to hang) 
  • Bedsheets and pillowcases, bed pillows (like-new condition), blankets, bath towels, hand towels, washcloths, bathmats, shower curtains, and shower ring sets 
  • Plates and bowls (microwave-safe items; no fine china), drinking glasses (non-alcohol related only), mugs, silverware, pots and pans, bakeware, mixing bowls, casserole dishes, knives and cutting boards, common countertop appliances, kitchengadgetsand utensils
  • Air conditioners, space heaters, fans, vacuums, trash bins, storage bins and containers (with lids), laundry baskets, utensil organizers

 
*Large items are not accepted at the event but can be donated at their location.

Caring Closet
New and gently used medical equipment and supplies 

  • walkers, wheelchairs, shower chairs 
  • Incontinence supplies (new condition)
  • Wound-care supplies (new condition)

There are a few items we’re NOT able to accept: 

  • Squishy foam
  • #5 bags and cellophane-type bags
  • Pet food bags
  • Household batteries
